Combined with the practice of HSE management system building and implementation of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), this paper systematically expounds the meaning, significance and role of HSE management system audit as well as the relationship between HSE audit and safety inspection. Besides it analyzes the main problems and causes existing in enterprise HSE audit at present. Finally, it proposes specific countermeasures to strengthen HSE audit from the following aspects: improving the awareness of the importance of HSE audit, improving HSE audit system, preparing operable audit checklist, establishing an auditor team with high professional quality, constantly optimizing the ways and methods of HSE system audit and strengthening the application of audit results.
