MASHANTUCKET PEOUOT TRIBAL NATION'S MICROFILTRATION MEMBRANE SYSTEM: DRINKING WATER THEY COULDN'T GAMBLE ON

In 1995 the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN) commissioned a new iron and manganese removal process with a USFilter/Memcor CMF Microfiltration System. Their new Water Treatment Plant is designed to produce drinking water for their utility customers including tribal government, tribal residents, the Foxwood Hotel and Casino, the newly constructed Mashantucket Tribal Nation Museum, and approximately 40,000 - 60,000 daily transient patrons per day. This paper looks back at the decision to utilize microfiltration, the initial years of operation and the system today. With the system in operation for the past three years, key items discussed are operational costs, maintenance costs and operational features of the membrane system.
