Excessive wet weather flows can have negative affects on the performance of a collection system and wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). Reducing these wet weather flows through an effective pipeline rehabilitation program can reduce the occurrences of sanitary sewer overflows (SSO) and provide a more reliable system with adequate capacity. The pipeline rehabilitation program developed for West County Wastewater District of Richland, California focused on isolating the worst inflow and infiltration (I&I) problem areas and then using a holistic basin rehabilitation approach to effectively rehabilitate the pipelines in the basin.
