The osteonecrosis of the jaw is already a well-known side effect of the bisphosphonate (BP) therapy. We did a retrospective review of nineteen patients with bisphosphonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BONJ), referred to the Clinic of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Timisoara, between 2006-2010. We analyzed the clinical, radiological, microbiological, histological records and therapeutic management. Patients undergoing BP therapy have to be carefully evaluated when presenting oral complains so that early signs of a osteonecrosis induced by this drugs are not overviewed.
