Respiratory disease in pigs is a complex and economically significant cause of production losses in swine industry. Two of the most important agents associated with pneumonia in pigs are Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and PRRSV (1). At this time, some information is available on the dynamics of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae e PRRSV infection in a population of pigs. A different evolution of infection and clinical outcome can be observed between different production systems (2). Batch farrowing system, combinedwith age segregated rearing, can significantly reduce the severity of pig respiratory diseases by reducing the level of infection in the group and by improving air quality (3).
