Nowadays, the advantages of digital documents and digital libraries are well known throughout the World. This paper presents a system for the automatic retrieval of music from ancient music collections (XVI -XVIII century), creating digital documents of music from images of music sheets. This is an Optical Music Recognition system that uses image processing and pattern recognition techniques. In the end, we obtain a document that contains the music semantics: description of the notes, in time and pitches, as well as other relevant information.
