A REVIEW OF PERSPECTIVE OF THE APPLICATION OF LEDS IN GENERAL LIGHTING BY COMPARING EFFICACIES OF LED AND CONVENTIONAL LIGHT SOURCES

摘要

This article analyzes the efficacy of conventional light sources and theoretical and technologicallimits of the efficacy. Then LED's spectrum was simulated by Gaussian and Larentz models to calculate LED's efficacy. By comparison of the efficacy of conventional light sources and LED it was concluded that increasing of LED's internal quantum efficiency and extraction efficiency to quite high level is needed for LED to apply in general lighting.
