To test and study the performance of a quasi two-stage compression heat pump system coupled with ejectors, three kinds of ejectors have been designed, and heat pump prototypes have been set up with different ejectors. When condensation temperature keeps at 45°C and evaporation temperature varies from -8°C to -25°C, the performance of each heat pump prototype has been comprehensively tested. The experimental results demonstrate that the heat pump system coupled with ejector has better performance than the quasi two-stage heat pump system under the design conditions, but its performance will decrease under the off-design conditions. The heat pump system coupled with an optimized ejector can obtain an excellent performance in a wide range of operation conditions, and its heating COP can be about 10% higher than that of the heat pump system without ejector.
