摘要

Use of the Web for transport surveys is likely to increase, in the same way as its use by the population. In view of the problems of coverage and Internet skills, its application as a single survey medium is for the time being restricted mainly to the study of a specific population for which the construction of the sample can be controlled. Its use as a survey mode in combination with others is very promising in view of the steady rise in nonresponses for other survey modes in many countries. Nevertheless, it is true that there is a considerable need for research concerning the comparability of the data from the different media, with reference to how the design and the survey process affect the collected data. These surveys also encounter certain specific technical problems that developments in computing should reduce in the medium term.
