Paper describes properties of new types HE particles produced with application of the re-crystallization technology and three different techniques for super-fine powdering of HE crystalline material: "Comminution using the Rotor / Stator System", "Comminution using the Gap Mil System" and "Precipitation by the Compressed Fluid Anti-solvent (PCA)". Application of the "Kinetics Rate / Reaction Front Radiance Test" allows the real time registrations of spatially resolved reaction zone formation and growth, when the PBX samples are subjected to strong shock. A new test method is producing data that allow us to become quantitative about the genesis and rate of the reaction growth at SDT, discriminating between kinetics of shock-driven reactions in the samples having very close microstructures. The absolute values of shock sensitivity are determined for series HE particles distinguished by chemical nature, crystal size and quality. The shock sensitivity data are presented and discussed for different quality particles of four HEs: RDX, HMX, FOX-7 and HNS.
