There is very inseparable correlation between indoor air quality of residences and human's health. The author investigates several cities such as Changsha, Shanghai, Wuhan, Harbin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Beijing from July in 2003 to September in 2004. From the data of measuring the homes which have been fitted up from half a month to four years, the author discoveries that the indoor air pollution is very serious in some cities and the most seriously polluted of these houses fitted up three years ago. Some new houses, almost fitted up only one year have a good indoor air quality. From the data, the author also finds that the mainly pollutants are formaldehyde, ammonia and toluene. The paper points out those pollutants mainly are emitted from building materials and furniture but the ammonia mainly from the wall materials from the survey data. From the survey data, the author suggests choosing environmental material to fit up house and so it can acquire a good indoor air quality. So, the Author points out some measures to control indoor air pollution and the controlling methods including ventilation, planting some plants and clearly nocuous air, etc. And the Author proves these methods are very useful and effective. For example, ventilation can rapidly decrease the concentration of nocuous air and approach outdoor air concentration in two hours.
