Automated 200x200 Optical Fiber Cross-Connect System for Reducing Operating Costs in Optical Fiber Networks

摘要

This paper describes the specifications and measured characteristics of an automated optical fiber cross-connect system. This system provides automatic cross-connection among any of 200 pairs of optical fibers using micro-optical connectors and a micro-robot hand. The cross-connection time is less than 80 sec and the insertion loss between an input and an output fiber is less than 1 dB.
