A Hydrogen Based Uninterruptible Energy Supply for Single Houses

This project realises a concept for an uninterruptible energy supply using standard 1.2 kWfuel cell modules to guarantee an uninterrupted power supply in a one family house. In thecase of a power failure in the grid the fuel cell modules take over the supply. All moduleswork in parallel and are fed with hydrogen out of storage situated near the house.The amount of energy consumption in the house determines the number of modules inoperation. A main controller organises the modules in that way that one, two or all threemodules produce energy. Furthermore the controller checks the time in operation of eachmodule and maintains that all modules have the same number of operating hours.This system combined with sufficient hydrogen storage can provide a one family house withuninterruptible power for many days. That is a first step directed to the energy autarchic house.
