An experimental investigation has been carried out to study the condensation of R-134a vapor over single circular integral-fin tubes (CIFTs) of 934 fpm, 1250 fpm, 1560 fpm and 1875 fpm fin densities. The 1560 fpm fin density tube gave the highest heat flux at a given temperature difference across the condensate layer. Further increase in fin density reduced the heat flux. The temperature difference across the condensate layer has a little bearing on the enhancement factor, EF. The 1560 fpm fin tube enhanced the heat flux by approximately 6.2 times in comparison to that for a plain tube at a given temperature difference across the condensate layer.
