In March 2013, Radio France launched a new part of its website, called nouvOson (1), to broadcast 5.1 and binaural sound. A binaural technique was initially chosen to reach people who do not have a home theatre set for 5.1 productions as well as for mobile applications. At the same time, Radio France became a founding member of the collaborative research project in binaural listening BILI (2), whose aim is to find a accessible way to personalize HRTF (Head-related Transfer Function) for the general public. This paper discusses the progress of the nouvOson player project since 2013 and its outlook.
