Tea leaf, cotton, paper, wood, fish meat and plastics (PE, PS, PP, PET, PVC) were used as components of MSW (municipal waste solid). The amount and composition of gas generated from the pyrolysis reaction were measured. Equations for the amount and composition of gas were derived as functions of pyrolysis temperature and time. With three kinds of gases, CO2, H2O and a mixture of CO2 and H2O, the gasification reaction rates of char generated at pyrolysis reaction were measured and correlated with the experimental conditions. By combining these equations, the amount and composition of gas generated from the pyrolysis and gasification reactions were estimated.
