Using acetyl cholinesterase (C3389, type VI-S, from electric eel) and homogenate from chicken liver, acetyl cholinesterase sensitivity and general esterase sensitivity were compared by measuring the inhibition of acetyl cholinesterase activity and general esterase activity under different concentrations of dichlorvos, trichlorfon, malathion and carbaryl. The results showed that both sensitivities to the pesticides were similar for the two measuring systems. Simultaneously, the parameters for detecting pesticides with the homogenate from chicken liver were optimized. 40mmol/L citrate buffer (pH6.5) was found better for the activity of general esterase and its sensitivity to pesticides.
