The migration of chemical contaminants in a multi-layer aquifer situated in an urban area is simulated. The model incorporates a random walk solution that is formulated in polar and Cartesian co-ordinates. It is based on the motion of individual particles. The model is developed to calculate the flow in the coupled system consisting of the aquifer and the well penetrating the aquifer. The method is used to study to what extent the flow movement in the well influences the inflow into the well from the different aquifer layers and consequently the pollutant concentration in the pumped water. The model takes into account the pollutant source and different pumping wells that installed for exploitation of drinking water in an urban area. The random walk method and field measurements are used for the development of a transport model and their applications to problems of groundwater protection. Several examples for different types of contaminant's migration are given in this paper.
