THE EMOTIONAL GROUNDS OF INFOLOGY: THE INFOLOGICAL EQUATION REVISITED

An information system is not an information system unless it includes humans who are informed. Considering his infological equation, B?rje Langefors (1995) argued that the pre-knowledge of those included in the information system is both a prerequisite for their being able to interpret data and get informed and a crucial design factor when the data are to be designed. Here, it is argued that another such factor is the emotional states of the participants in a communication process. The possible consequences of such a view are discussed.
