Based on the analysis of the flow features of dredged channel at estuaries, the flume forms and dredging schemes were designed. The experiments were arranged according to the dimensional analysis of the factors affecting velocity. A new formula, which is applicable in calculating the velocity of both parallel and diagonal dredge-cut, was obtained through line type analysis of the experiment results. The formula has been used for the silting forecast calculation of a navigable channel, and the calculation results show a good agreement with the measure data. The paper also briefly studied the flow deflection angle in a dredge-cut, and compared the experiment results of different dredging schemes.
