Paclitaxel (Taxol~direct R) is a novel neoplastic anticancer drug with excellent chemotherapeutic effects. It was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of ovarian cancer in 1992, metastatic or advanced breast cancer in 1994, AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma, non-small cell lung cancer in 1999, and early stage breast cancer in October 1999.
