As the scientific information on the role of the intestinal flora has been accumulated, a lot of desirable qualities of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) have been emerging, like encouraging gut motility, supressing harmful bacteria and reducing known mutagens and carcinogens generated in the intstinal tract.
