Porous cathode substrate of La_(0.69)Sr_(0.19)MnO_(3-δ) was used as the support for the deposition of thin YSZ membranes. The porosity of the electrode substrate was controlled by changing the sintering temperature. Thin YSZ membranes were fabricated on the cathode substrate by sol-gel method. The membrane fabricated by coating 8 times with 0.10 M YSZ sol containing triethanol amine (TEA) was continuous and crack-free of 2μm in thickness. However, hydrogen permeation measurement showed that there was a small leakage of hydrogen in the fabricated membrane. In addition to sol-gel method, another technique such as EVD should be employed to make the membrane completely gas-tight.
