Two new copper smelters, which employ theMitsubishi continuous copper smelting and converting process, are now under construction in Indonesia and in South KoreaBoth of these basic design concepts followed the same processof Naoshima smelter in Japan, which was modernized andcommissioned in 1991, while incorporating some modificationsbased on the recent actual operating performance of the Process. On the other hand, for future application of the process, which iscapable of higher smelter throughput, basic engineering studiestake into consideration the experience gained at the Naoshima'scommercial scale operation and also the results of relevantlaboratory experiments.
