HARMONIOUS DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURE-WATER RESOURCES-ENVIRONMENT$$$$A CASE STUDY IN THE HEILONGGANG REGION, CHINA

摘要

The Heilonggang region lies in the East Hebei Plain, with an area of 32 966 km~2, 2 118 000 ha of which is cultivated land. Because of monsoon influence, the rainfall is highly variable and the mean annual precipitation is 500-600 mm, 80% of which is concentrated between June and September. With a lack of surface water, shallow saline groundwater is widely distributed. As a result, a spectrum of hazards such as spring droughts, autumn floods, soil salinization and alkalization restrict the development of agriculture.
