THE PRESENT SITUATION OF ECONOMIC RESEARCH ON MINERAL RESOURCES IN CHINA

China is a country which is rich in mineral resources. Among 163 kinds of found minerals, 148 kinds have their reserves. The proved reserves of 25 kinds of mineral products stand in the forefront of the world. These mineral products are coal, iron, vanadium, titanium, tungsten, tin, molybdenum, antimony, mercury, lead, zinc, bauxite, rear earth metal, niobium, barite, magnesite, fluorite, sulphur, pyrite, etc. Up to now, more than 130 kinds of minerals have been developed and utilized. The potential value of proved reserves of 5 kinds of important mineral ores rank the third place in the world. Many minerals with abundant reserves not only can meet the domestic requirement, but also are exported. Mining industry has become an important pillar industry of the national economy of China. The output value of final products produced by industry departments who take ore products as their main raw material occupies about 30 percent of gross value of industrial output of China.
