The north China region is one of the main coal-bearing regions with more than 400 000 km~2 of residual Permo-Carboniferous strata distribution. About 200 000 km~2 is suitable for coalbed methane exploration and potential development with the depth less than 2000 m (Fig. 1) and generally the coalbed thickness is more than 10 m. The resoure of coalbed methane is abundent, which is 55% of the total resources of China. The north China region is the best potential area for developing and untilizing coal bed gas.
