摘要

This paper deals with the development of a new type of reinforced concrete masonry structures which is applicable to medium rised buildings in seismic and rainy regions. This structural system was specially developed for seismic countries under a cooperative research program on aseismicity of masonry structures between the United States of America and Japan. Furthermore, this system can be characterized as aseismic and durable structures by means of ultilizing newly developed high strength masonry units, which are produced by a vibrio-press manufacturing method and can be used as a kind of casting form with two dimentionally continuous large cavity between the faceshells in the plane of wall systems. This paper introduces properties of materials, characterized strength, modular coordination of units and the future direction in design and construction. The units developed especially for the structural system, are high in compressive strength and impermeable to salts and watar, because of adopting low water cement ratio of concrete. The units are produced by usual machines for concrete masonry units which are compatible to producing cementitious building materials and components automatically.
