Consistency and degradation of electrochemical double layer capacitors under calendar ageing

Calendar ageing is one of the most important degradation behaviors for electrochemical double layer capacitors (EDLCs) in many engineering applications which severely impacts EDLC's life and reliability. EDLCs from model A, B, and C degraded under room temperature and 0 V, the capacitance and direct current resistance (DCR) of EDLC samples were measured at room temperature, based on which the consistency and degradation behaviors of samples were analyzed. From histograms and coefficients of variance, the distributions of capacitance and DCR were obtained. It can be concluded that samples' capacitance generally decreased and DCR remain relatively constant during the two years calendar ageing. The results can provide theory references for engineering application.
