Coordination between Urban Rail Transit Development and Urban Population Change

In order to clarify the interaction mechanism between metro and urban development, the relationship between spatial changes of the network and population changes are quantitatively analyzed. According to city planning and metro network planning, the population size and lines' scale of each zone of different time nodes are counted in the model. The spatial autocorrelation between population and network scale is analyzed using the Moran's I model. Through modeling analysis, the spatial structure and population distribution characteristics of different terms have significant spatial autocorrelation characteristics. The results show that urban spatial development and urban population changes are the main relevant factors of traffic demand, which affect rail transit network planning. Further, rail transit supports urban space expansion and promotes the development of rail transit. The findings of this study can be used as the basis for line network planning, main passenger flow corridors, and selection of transit mode.
