Study on Optimum Operation of Radiant Cooling and Heating System with Convectional Air-conditioning System Part Ⅱ: Evaluation on Indoor Thermal Environment and Energy Consumption Using CFD Simulation
This research paper presents the results of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis on the optimum operating schemes between the convectional air conditioning system and radiant cooling/heating system. Four case studies were conducted under the configuring condition settings derived from the field measurement data during summer and winter. The results showed that applying radiant system had influence on reducing room's mean radiant temperature during summer. Meanwhile in winter, indoor vertical temperature gradient was suppressed compared to the room with only the convectional system was applied. Thermal comfort could be effectively enhanced with small amount of energy consumed by radiant cooling/heating system.
