Axisymmetrical large abdominal aortic aneurysms are considered interms of formulated dimensionless parameters reflecting geometry and theactual arterial waveform under steady state conditions. Numericalsolution of the differential equations yields wall shear stresses andnormal forces which are verified experimentally in vitro. It isestablished that, depending on the parameter magnitudes, there are oneor two separation regions. It is verified that the maximum stresses arelocated at the exit neck of the aneurysm. The separation regions foundin the experimental and numerical results are observed to be the sitefor clots formation in a live specimen of an aneurysm removed duringsurgery
