摘要

Increasing environmental demands, especially for emissions ofthe carcinogenic PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons)require new technologies for the treatment of fumes fromcarbon anode production plants. Thermal systems have beensupplied to several paste plants as well as baking furnaces forthe production of anodes, electrodes and cathodes. Due to thespecific pollutants such as HF and the behaviour of the stickycondensates, the systems have to be designed properly to ensurea high availability. Pre-filters and preheating avoid clogging ofthe heat exchanger material of regenerative thermal oxidizers(RTO’s). In addition, stringent health and safety issues as wellas a specific fire protection system have to be considered duringthe design, construction and operation of a new plant. Thepaper shows the required process steps and the technicalsolution on the basis of plants for several baking furnaces inPoland and France.
