The SpaceWire Electronic Ground Support Equipment(EGSE) is a test and development unit produced bySTAR-Dundee that is designed to significantly reducethe time required to simulate SpaceWire instrumentsand other SpaceWire equipment in real-time. It doesthis using a simple yet powerful scripting languagedesigned for SpaceWire applications. The requiredbehaviour of the SpaceWire equipment can be quicklydefined in a script which is then compiled and loadedinto the EGSE hardware via software. Once configuredthe SpaceWire EGSE operates independent of softwareresulting in real-time behaviour. This paper brieflydescribes the SpaceWire EGSE hardware and software,before introducing the scripting language, including anexample, and summarising the capabilities and benefitsof the EGSE.
