Evaluation of the ultimate strength of steel welded ring-stiffened conicalshell subjected to hydrostatic pressure is conducted. Experiment of foursmall-scale conical structures are performed. The tests are performed ina pressure chamber, pressurising with water, and loaded to collapse.Numerical computation of the experiment is then carried out byemploying the finite element code of ABAQUS FEA. The imperfectionparameters are considered. The numerical investigations successfullyreplicated the failure shape and the ultimate strength with reasonableaccuracy.
