摘要

In this paper, a topological optimization procedure or method for atypical transverse web frame in midship cargo hold region of a VLCC isstudied. Some technical issues are discussed, including the range ofdesign domain, multiple load cases screening criteria and weightingcoefficients, constraint conditions, etc. With the application ofHyperWorks/OptiStruct, the optimal and suboptimal topologyconfigurations of the typical transverse web frame are finally obtained,taking into account some practical limits. The research shows that thisoptimization method has validity and feasibility, and it can provide atechnology for the optimization design of the transverse web frame inVLCC. Besides, it can also provide reference for the topologyoptimization of other hull structures considering multiple load cases.
