Numerical aspects of inclusion of losses in MTL time domainequations

Numerical aspects related to the solution of the equationsgoverning transients in multiconductor transmission lines (MTL) directlyin the time domain (TD) are presented. Inclusion of losses associatedwith finite conductivity of conductors is discussed and, in particular,subtleties of the Prony's method for the approximation of transientimpedances accounting for losses in the time domain are investigated.The importance of various factors on the overall accuracy obtained intransient analysis is outlined and assumptions often made in the pastare critically reviewed
