Elevator Equipment Noise Reduction in Multi-Apartment Buildings

An increased level of noise in residential housing has recently become one of the major environmental problems. The purpose of this study is to develop measures to reduce noise in the living space. We have investigated the sources of noise in multi-storey buildings associated with elevator equipment and we have identified the frequency characteristics of their sound pressure levels. We have also proposed basic measures to reduce the noise produced by these sources. Effectiveness analysis of the implemented measures has been carried out. Replacing the cables with softer ones made it possible to reduce the noise from the elevator winch and to ensure the residents’ peace of mind on the upper floors of multistorey buildings.
