One of the effective ways to ensure the reliable operation of high and ultra-high voltage cables with cross-linked polyethylene is to monitor the temperature of the phases throughout the length of the cable. The current load of the cable line is determined by the laying conditions. At the same time, at different sections of the route, the temperature of the living can vary. The temperature measurement is based on the nonlinear Raman Effect of the optical fiber. Sensor with fiber due to nonlinear effect - Raman scattering of optical radiation - allows in real time to determine the places of local overheating. For 110 kV power cable, it is shown that when the short-circuit currents flow, the temperature on the copper conductor surface exceeds 250°C. To ensure normal long-term operation, it is recommended to use an optical module based on metallic materials.
