摘要

Defects in operation of the induction motors changes the harmonic components of motor supply current. In this paper, Motor electrical current signature analysis (MCSA) is used to detect the inter- turn short circuits in only one winding of the motor stator. In this paper, a theoretical study was conducted to determine the harmonics resulting from the presence of inter- turn short circuits. An experimental module set of a 220V/380V-50Hz-11kW-4pole three- phase squirrel-cage induction machine has been used to verify the efficiency of this method. The experimental results proved the effectiveness of the proposed method in detecting inter-turn short circuit up to the failure of only two turn.
