Measurement of thermal time constant of optical fiber using linear cross-correlation of optical pulses

Using a fiber optic temperature sensing system based on the cross-correlation of picosecond optical pulses from a gain-switched semiconductor laser, the thermal time constants of several types of optical fiber in water were measured.
