Wave and wind modeling software were used to evaluate a combined resource availability of wave and wind along the California coast. A potential for an integrated wave and wind platform was evaluated and found that the resource increases in the northern direction. An integrated platform for wave and wind was proposed and modelled with estimates of implementation cost. The constructed platform was rated at 584 kW producing over 4,500,000 kWh/yr. This would lead to a yearly income of $599,022 resulting in an 8.8 year simple payback at 2014 currency value. This cost can change depending on several aspects such as the design details of the wind turbines as well as the wave platform, and the rate at which electricity can be sold.
