CSNS (China Spoliation Neutron Source) target station water cooling system has three independent cooling loops. Two cooling loops' working medium use light water and the third one uses heavy water. The heavy water loop is used for cooling target and reflector. In addition, according to the various experiment acquirements of neutron performance, heavy water is used to optimize neutron flux. Two light water loops are used to remove heat deposition from pre-moderators, moderator, proton beam window and helium vessel. Light water is also used to slow down the neutrons and keep the temperature distribution. The cooling water flow through severed components removes heat, as well as gases and radioactive products. The design takes full account of system reliability, safety, upgrading and maintenance.
