Lignin recovered from hot-water extracts of angiosperms for hydrogels

1 Hot-water extracted lignin is a renewable resource that may have potential applications as a polymer in a variety of fields including but not limited to, pharmaceutics, agricultural and pollution remediation. 2 Novel uses of lignin produced from a hot-water extraction based biorefmery would result in increased revenues and profitability. 3 Composition of lignin can be tailored by use of different solvent treatments, according to the intended applications.
