Remote Line Power (RLP) networks utilize two major topologies that are defined and regulated by IEC 60950-21, "Information Technology Equipment - Safety - Part 21: Remote Power Feeding," an international standard for safety that has been adopted by most country-specific or regional telecom regulatory bodies. RFT-C (Remote Feeding Telecommunication - Current) is a current-limited technique predominantly deployed in Europe, whereas RFT-V (Remote Feeding Telecommunication - Voltage) is a voltage-limited method deployed in North and South America. While both standards enable the remote powering of distributed networks, there are significant differences between the two.
