Under the framework of a smart city, the concept of 'resilient liveable smart city' suggests the mapping of big data from various dimensions of urban liveability information provided by the citizens. This mapping, based on citizens' participation, can form 'resilient liveable indicators' through parameterization, visualization, and management of the information. For disaster prevention, the indicators can also help decision making for disaster alleviation, preparation, emergency control, and restoration. Therefore, this study combines the concepts of location-based volunteered geographic information (VGI) and geovisualization to develop the resilient liveable indicators for disaster prevention. We chose Zhonghe Community and Wuguang Community in Taichung, Taiwan as the study areas. First, we developed mobile app to provide the citizens reporting the potential disaster-driven environment in the community through portable equipment with information communication technology, and the reports of location-based data will be gathered in a cloud database. The data are reorganized by geographic coordinates, and then geo-self-organizing map (Geo-SOM) will be used to perform geographic pattern detection and show indicators with weight through the mapping of visualized information. Consequently, potential resilient liveable indicators for disaster prevention will be developed for helping decision-making analysis and public management of the community. Future studies include linking the indicators with urban management, which will allow the decision-making and the resilient liveable indicators to interlink in a smart city.
