DEVELOPMENT OF GLOBAL-LOCAL DATASETS OF ENVIRONMENT/ECONOMY/SOCIETY AND THEIR MULTI-TEMPORAL ANALYSIS FOR ASSESSMENT OF SUSTAIN ABILITY

The main objective of this research is to develop and publish multi-temporal database after 1990 in three aspects of environment, economy and society for each local governmental area covering global land area. Examples of the planned data are land cover change for environment, agricultural Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for economy, population for society. Including them, 15-20 types of parameters are planned to be developed as the first step. Some of them will be developed by authors and some others will be converted from existing data. The background of this research is the lack of data to assess local sustainable development. Existing globally covered data to assess sustainability are mostly country bases. Innovative point of this research is that it aims to develop the first unified globally covered local data of three aspects. Another new point is to develop global land cover 'change' data after 1990. The outcome of this research is to contribute to know how local area can be developed sustainably using the produced data by this study.
