Much of the United States Critical Infrastructure (CI) of telecommunications networks, financial systems, aviation guidance and control and power grid depends upon GPS timing signals for proper operation. This abstract will discuss and postulate the impacts of this infrastructure being rendered inoperable in small, medium and large scale segments. This discussion is related to the commercial and public use of GPS signals. The military systems and process are not included as they operate in a fundamentally different and classified manner. This abstract deals with the GPS signal operational characteristics easily found residing in the public domain. Editorial license has been to taken by the author to simplify and shorten the discussion of GPS signals and the associated receivers. The authors goal is to create a system that is highly cost effective and systematically sound.
