In total hip arthroplasty (THA), stem fixation is relating pain after surgery. While, there is no quantitative evaluation method of stem fixation. This study proposes an ultrasonic evaluation method of stem fixation in THA. We estimate the stem fixation based on attenuation of ultrasonic energy. Ultrasonic probe is placed on proximal end of the stem by custom maid jig. In the experiment, forces ranging from 0 N to 300 N were applied to the stem. Voltages between peaks were measured in the condition. In the results, the voltage decreased with incensement of the applying force. Consequently, the proposed method could estimate the stem fixation.
