An omni-directional electrically small helical antenna with high radiation efficiency

In this paper, an electrically small helical antenna with segmented sections and tapered parallel plate transmission line with a 1800 swap as feeding has been proposed and studied. Due to the unique property of segmented structure, the proposed helical antenna allows uniform current along the radiator. Simulated results show the proposed the helical antenna has good impedance matching, high radiation efficiency, and excellent omni-directional circular radiation pattern.
